High in the mountains of Aceh Tengah, Sumatra, Wagiman and Yasmin Farms cultivate Gayo coffee at roughly 1,400–1,450 meters above sea level. Working with the Koperasi Coop, these producers are committed to certified organic and Fairtrade farming practices, fueling their coffee trees with natural fertilizers such as coffee husks to preserve soil health for future harvests. The farms primarily grow the region’s native Gayo 1 and Gayo 2 varieties, coffees uniquely adapted to the lush, humid highlands of northern Sumatra.

This lot represents some of the best of that tradition: Organic Gayo Grade 1, Triple Picked, carefully hand-sorted for exceptional consistency before undergoing Sumatra’s distinctive Giling Basah, or wet-hulled, process. The result is an unmistakably Indonesian coffee with substantial body and layers of dark chocolate, clove, Concord grape and pipe tobacco, lifted by a subtle touch of lime. Rich and complex without being one-dimensional, it’s a beautiful expression of both the Gayo highlands and the producers who call them home.
